I’m excited to debut these Sherlock leggings my friend Hilary gave me this past Christmas. As a superfan of the BBC series, it’s a treat to incorporate a bit of the show’s symbols into my style. Major props to the folks at Consulting Fangeeks for their awesome work on these comfy and stylish hand-printed leggings.
There are two main things I love about these pants:
1) They’re a direct reprint of the wallpaper found in the consulting detective’s flat at 221B Baker Street. The black-and-white pattern make it such a versatile piece to style with any outfit. These are my first and currently my only pair of printed pants, but I quickly realized why they’re often recommended as a staple item for our wardrobes — they really do make a statement!
2) The print is complete with the yellow happy face and the bullet holes inflicted by Sherlock’s boredom. The touch of yellow on the right leg serves as a nice, subtle accent for the whole outfit, and is complemented by the pop of colour from the neon pink pumps and nails.
The pink pumps are my bargain find of the season: I picked them up from Urban Planet for $10! The expectation for this kind of make is usually that you get what you pay for, but I was surprised by how comfortable they are, especially for stiff, faux patent leather four-inch heels.
Having said that, titling this look “A Study in Pink” after the show’s first episode was just the natural thing to do.
To complete the outfit is the Guess clutch — one of many retro finds from mom‘s closet. She takes such good care of her stuff and happily shares them with me to feature on the blog, so expect to see more from her style archives on here! As for this Guess crossbody, she’s had it for over 20 years now, so we’re gonna go ahead and call it a vintage piece ;-)
