My body has seen a gradual but major change over the last few years due to a change in routine (going from working nights to working days) and, well, just getting older. So for a while, it was frustrating when I realized most of my wardrobe — especially some of my favourite pieces — no longer fit me. I struggled with a dilemma: do I give buy cheaper, loose-fitting clothes that aren’t really “me” to temporarily conceal my body changes as I try to get back to my previous shape? Or do I embrace my new shape and use this as an opportunity to invest in clothes that make me feel good and look good?
After a year of the former and feeling like I was “hiding” myself, I shifted over to the latter just as I had rediscovered a nifty little boutique called Fraiche in Toronto.
Almost every dress I tried on at Fraiche seemed to have the most flattering cuts for my shape. These beautiful pieces give me both more pinch and more flare where I need it, thanks to strategic pleating or overall tailoring. Another great thing about the dresses at Fraiche is that many of its styles come in different patterns and palettes. So if there’s a cut that’s really working for you, you can pick it up in a couple other colours for some variety! It’s great to have a new go-to boutique that I can trust whenever I need a new dress in which I can feel great for everyday wear. It’s dresses like these that give me confidence again, amid my ever-changing body shape needs.
My favourite is this white floral dress because it’s vibrant yet conservative, and classy yet playful. It gives the illusion of a high, tighter waist, and longer legs, even though it falls at knee length.
It’s the perfect backdrop to my new Classic Petite Bondi white watch, courtesy of Daniel Wellington. I received this watch in exchange for a couple Instagram posts to help launch this new addition to the DW collection. If you like it, use my code BRILLIANT15 for 15% off at danielwellington.com!
Have a lovely weekend, friends!
