Meet my summer uniform — my favourite outfit to wear during the summer months. This outfit was originally inspired by Lana Del Rey at the Sony Centre (where Pam and I first saw her live in 2014) and I’ve had the look on repeat since then. I like that I can dress up this simple combo with some ankle-strap heels, or dress it down with my beaten-up Sperry Top Siders that I wear everywhere.
This lightweight cotton button-down shirt from Brandy Melville is so comfortable to live in all summer long. It’s a nice over-sized fit that gives you a lot to work with for a front-tie look. I now wear this shirt so sparingly because I haven’t been able to find another one this comfortable and I’m trying to keep it away from any food or sweat stains as much as possible. When Brandy Melville brings them back, I’ll definitely be stocking up.
These shorts from American Eagle are my perfect idea of “destroyed denim” with a great summer wash. I love that they have just the right amount of pockets sticking out and that the pockets are also a classic plain white (as opposed to patterned).
Special thanks to Daniel Gutierrez for these amazing photos. I met Daniel at Henry’s when I picked up my Nikon D750 a couple months ago. He offered to shoot this look for me just for fun and we had a blast creating these long exposure shots in downtown Toronto. You’ll find on my Flickr that I love shooting light trails and nighttime bokeh lights myself so I always imagined being behind the lens for a shoot like this, thus I feel really lucky to have had the opportunity to be the main subject of this kind of work by a very skilled photographer. Thanks, Daniel!
