So I’m just gonna put this out there: I don’t go out on New Year’s Eve. In fact, I’ve never gone out on New Year’s Eve. Long story short, it’s not my thing, the cold makes me lazy, and I just don’t like the idea of ringing in a brand new year doing anything other than my idea of a perfect night. I enjoy staying in, eating mom’s homemade hamburgers, watching the ball drop on TV, then going to bed. My perfect NYE.
However, I didn’t want that to hold me back from putting together an outfit for those looking for some inspiration. So voila, here’s what I think I would wear if I were to go out on NYE. I’m not quite sure what kind of New Year’s event I would wear this to, but I think it’s a good combination of wintery, wearable and celebratory.
Tulle skirts are such an easy, low maintenance way to dress up any outfit. I plan to introduce more to my wardrobe, especially some knee-length ones to go with a nice cardigan. This one from M for Mendocino is the perfect length for a fun, party look.
I definitely had this skirt in mind when I picked up these beautiful statement earrings from H&M. Bonus: They feel much lighter than they look, and they only cost $12.95.
stole borrowed these gold glittery pumps from mom’s collection. I remember when she bought these for my cousin Gail’s wedding in 2012, I was so envious that I hadn’t spotted them first. They’re easily something that you’d spot on the feet of Katy Perry, whom I adore. I can’t help but sing Firework in my head every time I see these shoes (which is obviously appropriate, given the occasion… and if you’ve already seen The Interview.)
Finally, this rose gold Michael Kors watch pulls the whole outfit together to balance out the golden yellows and the flower petal pinks.
Happy New Year, everyone! All the best in 2015 :)
