When I picked up this ugly Christmas sweater from Winners ($24.99), I loved how adorable this reindeer looked. But then I thought, what if he doesn’t want to look adorable? What if that doe-eyed stare is meant to be intimidation? What if Rudolph put on his best Christmas outfit to look like a total badass?!
So this year I thought I’d dress up my ugly Christmas sweater with a bit of an edge to it. Here are three things you need to take your holiday sweater from festive to fierce:
1. Leather-look pants
There’s nothing wrong with feeling cozy in your ugly Christmas sweater with a pair of your favourite jeans, or yoga pants, or even sweats (gotta make room for all that eating, right?). But if you want to look like you’re ready to rock around the Christmas tree, put on some high-gloss trousers for a slick holiday party look.
2. A choker
A choker is like the outfit version of the ribbon / bow on a beautifully-wrapped gift — optional but elevates the whole package!
3. Aviator sunglasses*
Show up to your holiday party with aviator sunglasses and you’ll look like you’re ready to navigate Santa’s sleigh to a safe landing.
*JUST KIDDING. Don’t wear sunglasses at night — unless you need ’em for some reason. Otherwise, it’s pretty unnecessary and borderline a safety hazard for you and those around you.
Go with a pair of heeled booties. Those are safer.
^ Lol, my choker got all twisty and the lock ended up on the side somehow 😂
How are you wearing your ugly Christmas sweater this year? Let me know in the comments section below!
Wishing you a happy holidays! Hope you enjoy the festive season with those you love (or at least like, even just a little bit).
